Trilobites were among the earliest of the complex animals to
develop. These interesting creatures were very advanced for
their time and are thought to be the first animals with eyes.
They first appeared in the Cambrian Period, over 550 million
years ago and flourished in the ancient seas for over 300 million
years. But, alas, by the end of the Permian period, some 230
million years ago, they had become extinct. The trilobite was an
anthropod and as such has many distant relatives that survive
today-insects, spiders, lobsters and crabs to name a few. We
offer several varieties of these important and interesting fossils.
